Our Compost Pickup and Drop-Off Services, which are essentially Waste Management services mixed with Recycling operations, were designed to help our environment by diverting as much would-be organic waste (such as food scraps) from landfill as possible and composting it.

Through a process known as “hot composting,” which, unlike landfilling, produces no methane (a toxic greenhouse gas more than 20x more potent than carbon dioxide), we convert all the organic waste we accept into a nutrient-rich soil amendment known as compost, which not only nourishes plants of all kinds, but makes our soil healthier and sequesters carbon from our atmosphere.

According to the Wisconsin DNR’s (Department of Natural Resources) 2020-2021 statewide waste characterization study, approximately half of what ends up in our landfills is (or could have been, at some point) compostable, and we find that to be unacceptable, hence why we do what we do.

SO HOW DO THESE COMPOST PICKUP & DROP-OFF SERVICES WORK?
It’s actually very simple!

STEP ONE	STEP TWO	STEP THREE	STEP FOUR
We provide you with a clean, Food Safe, five gallon bucket (with lid), with a BPI-certified compostable liner.	You remove your bucket lid, revealing wood shavings at the bottom (to help control odor and absorb moisture.)	You place any materials we consider Acceptable inside your bucket, over the course of at least a week.	You place your bucket outside for us, as scheduled, and we swap it out for a new, clean bucket.
